Haiku Homes For Sale – Maui Real Estate

It took a while for people to rediscover Haiku.  In it’s salad days, it was pineapple country with company camps, canneries and a very slow pulse.  After the Kahului lands opened up, Haiku languished until it was ‘rediscover’ twenty years ago.  When I bought an old farm in middle Haiku in the mid 80s, I had to explain to my friends why.  Now that the rainfall patterns have moderated, Haiku is the new heaven for farmers, windsurfers, dancers, yogis and health seekers who come for the air and stay for the community.  Yes, those old canneries are now incubators for small business, including surf board shapers and computer geeks.  There are also a great fitness center, a serious dance/yoga/seminar facility and the Temple of Peace (every community should have one).  If you’re interested in permaculture and sustainable living, your future may be here where the valleys have good soil and wind protection.
